Gordon Food Service, a family-managed broadline foodservice distribution company in North America, on Thursday opened its newest location in Memphis. The 27,000-square-foot store at 1460 Union Ave. is located in the Midtown neighborhood, offering shoppers in the area more grocery options.

Looking to diversify and expand Gordon Food Service brands and offerings, the company in February entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Macgregors Meat & Seafood Ltd., a leading Canadian supplier to foodservice, retail and private label customers coast to coast. In April the acquisition was completed, expanding Gordon Food Service's customer offerings through new food categories and new retailers, Gordon said in a statement.

Highlights featured at the new Tennessee location include grab-and-go meal solutions of ready-to-eat and ready-to-heat items like rotisserie and fried chicken, ribs, deli sandwiches, hand-made guacamole, cut fruit and freshly squeezed juices. An indoor, full-size food truck, open daily, will serve up a to-go menu, Gordon Food Service said in a statement.

Designed for home shoppers, restaurant owners and foodservice professionals of all types, the new store features traditional groceries with a deli section and bakery. The store also sells a variety of restaurant-quality items.

Shoppers can also take part in Gordon Go!, a free wholesale loyalty program available to businesses and non-profit organizations.

The store features online ordering for same-day in-store pickup or delivery.

Gordon Food Service operates more than 170 Gordon Food Service store locations in 12 states.
