Big Y Foods is an independent supermarket chain in New England based in Springfield, Mass. Trimino protein-infused water is now sold in each store, including the Big Y in the brand’s hometown of Branford, Conn., according to Peter J. Dacey, founder and CEO of Miami Bay Beverage Company, the functional water company. Trimino is a low-calorie functional water targeting the woman consumer. It contains seven grams of high quality whey protein and 100 percent of the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) of vitamin B complex, company officials say, and contains no sugar, carbohydrates, caffeine, gluten, or lactose. It comes in four fruit flavors: Peach, Mixed Berry, Strawberry Lemonade and Coconut Pineapple. “Women are leading the charge for healthier food consumption in the home and trimino aims to help them in this quest," Dacey says. "By reaching women, who are the principal buyers in the household, we can also reach the nation’s youth thanks to a positive trickle down effect in the home. Given the growing childhood obesity problem, this is particularly important.” “Big Y is a market leader with its Living Well Eating Smart and National Nutrition Month programs. Trimino is well suited for these programs and we expect to be participating in these in the future,” Dacey adds.
