Dollar General shoppers can now use health supplemental benefits to purchase food, produce, over-the-counter medicines, and additional wellness products, the company announced on Wednesday.

“With approximately 75% of Americans within five miles of a Dollar General, we recognize the unique access we provide to all communities, especially rural ones, that may not have affordable access to health and wellness essentials,” said Dr. Albert Wu, Dollar General’s chief medical officer. “We believe our partnership to expand access to supplemental and value-added benefits demonstrates our focus to keep our customers at the center of all we do and further establish Dollar General as a health destination.”

The discount retailer’s DG Wellbeing section provides more than 300 over-the-counter medicines and supplements.

Dollar General, headquartered in Goodlettsville, Tenn., has been on a health kick recently. In late January, the company announced it offers fresh produce options in more than 5,000 stores across the country.

Dollar General also recently invested in a partnership with Shelf Engine, an AI company providing retailers with technology to improve perishable food forecasting and ordering.
