PITTSBURGH — Giant Eagle is helping shoppers find out if they’re at risk for diabetes.

The retailer is offering free in-store diabetes screenings that include glucose testing. For those with diabetes, it is offering A1C tests, which measure blood glucose control.

Participants can also consult with a Giant Eagle Diabetes and Pharmaceutical Care Specialist trained as part of the American Public Health Association Program. Giant Eagle dietitians and wellness coaches are available at select locations.

Testing is available to those 18 years and older. A1C testing is not available in Maryland, but is available elsewhere while supplies last.

Giant Eagle is offering the screenings in partnership with Bayer HealthCare Diabetes Care and Novo Nordisk, a diabetes care company. They're available through Feb. 5.
