Hy-Vee has joined the Healthy Savings wellness program, which allows individual employers and health programs to offer discounts on a variety of healthy foods in grocery stores including fresh produce.

Members can now use their Healthy Savings cards at all Hy-Vee stores across the Midwest, putting the retailer among 1,400 participating stores nationwide.

Chad Kelly, chief marketing officer of Solutran, the parent company of Healthy Savings, called Hy-Vee a "trusted brand that supports healthy lifestyles."

"We believe this program is one more tool the grocer can offer to help customers who want to make healthy choices," he said.

According to Healthy Savings officials, the program allows members to save over $50 per week on healthier foods without having to clip coupons.
