Michael Angelo's Debuts New Line of Meals Made with Organic Ingredients

Michael Angelo’s Gourmet Foods–makers of real Italian prepared and frozen meals, announced the launch of a new Made with Organic line of meals that includes more than 70% organic ingredients. “When you take one of our Made with Organic meals home, you can be proud of your dining choices; there are no preservatives, no additives or fillers, just clean, real ingredients. It's real cooking and real food,” says founder and CEO Michael Angelo Renna, who started the company over 32 years ago with his mom, Sara, in the family pizzeria. Upgrading the already natural entrée line to QAI-certified “Made with Organic” was the next step in the Michael Angelo’s commitment to providing consumers with great taste paired with nutrition, company officials say. This new line was created in response to consumer demand for food that offers both the health benefits and peace of mind associated with organic ingredients and the flavor and taste they’ve come to expect from Michael Angelo’s. Just like every Michael Angelo’s meal, each of the new Made with Organic meals are comprised of 100% real ingredients, officials add. Seventy percent or more of the ingredients found in the new line are certified by Quality Assurance International (QAI), one of the leading authorities in the organic industry. Italian staples such as tomatoes and ancient grain Kamut Pasta are certified-organic, along with other key ingredients, including butter, cream, honey and vegetables – eggplant, mushrooms, spinach, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, kale, squash and zucchini. “It's not how other companies do it, but that's how we've always done it, and it's the reason we’ve never needed to defend the nutritional reputation of our products,” says Renna. “We don’t have to add all those other things that fake flavor and texture and fill up the side of the box with ingredients that nobody understands. We just focus on wholesome nutrition and real, delicious ingredients to make our meals the old-fashioned way.” Renna’s mother Sara has been a part of the business since the beginning, creating the original recipes from instinct and diligently inspecting all incoming ingredients to make sure they meet her exacting standards. “My Sicilian roots taught me that simple recipes with wholesome ingredients are all you need to make a great meal,” says Sara. “It’s easy for us to cook this way because it’s the way we’ve always done it. We’re definitely cooking on a larger scale now, but the principles are the same – you start with real, fresh ingredients and cook in small batches to make sure each meal is perfect, and something I’m still proud to create for my family and yours.” The new Made with Organic line of single-serve meals includes Lasagna with Meat Sauce, Eggplant Parmesan, Vegetable Lasagna, Chicken Parmesan, Baked Ziti with Meatballs, Chicken Alfredo, Four Cheese Lasagna, Manicotti with Sauce, Turkey Sausage Lasagna.
