GMOs, or “genetically modified organisms” are plants or animals that have been genetically engineered with DNA from bacteria, viruses, and other animals and plants. The Non-GMO Project is a non-profit organization committed to preserving and building sources of non-GMO products, educating consumers, and providing verified non-GMO choices. As the only third party verification organization, Non-GMO Project vigorously tests each ingredient in a product and requires that every batch of major risk food, such as corn, rice, soy, and wheat is tested before use and is below the threshold of 0.9%. “We are very excited that we can officially announce to our consumers that we are Non-GMO Project verified,” says Setton Farms chief operating officer Mia Cohen. “Being Non-GMO is extremely important to us, and we are thrilled to offer our customers the assurance that our products are safe, ethical, and delicious.”
