VP OF CULINARY INNOVATION AND R&D GEORGE’S INC.

What’s the best part of your job?

Being welcomed into our customer-partners’ back of house, which affords me the opportunity to ask questions and listen to the challenges and opportunities the operators face. The best part is when our team can come to their counter with possible solutions or insights that can lead to decisions that will propel their core business through collaborative product optimization and innovation.

What inspires your leadership approach?

Growing up on a farm, being in the military and working long hard hours in the restaurant side of the industry is where I would love to attribute my approach. But the reality is that those days were a preparation of not necessarily how to lead, but how to empathize appropriately [when] team members faced personal and professional trials and then to celebrate with them when enjoyed triumphs and successes.

What do you cherish most about being a part of the grocery business?

The necessity of it. It’s one of those common bonds that most everyone shares. And if I can be a part of helping to bring some of those foods from the store to the house, then I feel a sense of accomplishment and pride.

Favorite food: Smoked and cured meats and sausages.
