Beginning her career at Safeway during college as a part-time bakery clerk and cashier in the company’s former Salt Lake City division, Hunt has held a variety of roles of increasing importance in her career, spanning the bakery, deli, foodservice, Starbucks and Jamba Juice departments. She advanced to group VP of pharmacy, health and wellness in 2011 and returned to her roots as group VP of bakery following the Albertsons-Safeway merger. Today, Hunt leads the home delivery and Drive Up & Go operations of the nation’s second-largest traditional grocer.
What’s the best part of your job?
Collaborating and working with our talented team members. My team’s focus is about taking great care of our associates and our customers every day.
What inspires your leadership approach?
Creating a positive work culture is the foundation of my approach. I find creating a great work environment for our team makes a positive difference. Throughout my career, great mentors have inspired me and taught me. Learning from these leaders, I pursue ongoing learning and continuous improvement. I think it is important for personal and professional growth. The key to success is being genuine and authentic.
What do you cherish most about being a part of the grocery business?
I cherish and love championing change with my team. I really enjoy leading collaboration. Championing changes in today’s grocery industry means leveraging technology to find new ways to order, receive and experience great quality food and doing so with tender-loving care. That leads to a great experience for our associates and our customers.
