CEO VOLPI FOODS

What’s the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Now more than ever, the most rewarding aspect of my job is creating and cultivating a workforce of passionate people that have joined forces to make great-tasting products. They take ownership of our products and have an earnest, vested interest that all our products go to market and are enjoyed by our consumers as they should be.

What inspires your leadership approach?

I have been here for a very long time, so this answer is particularly dear to my heart. Over the years, what has inspired me most are those members that gave the company their all. I’m not saying they were the brightest stars (like in sales or marketing) or the most lean-driven (like in operations and production) or the smartest (like in accounting and finance), but they come in every day, do the best they can, are careful, enthusiastic, optimistic, appreciative and value the brand. Our first-generation American workers are what the company was founded on and by, and that drive to improve continues to inspire my leadership today.

What do you value most about being a part of the grocery business?

The customers. For the most part, the people in the grocery business are real and have an earnest desire to serve their customers. We are not creating the cure for cancer; we are nourishing people and families. We are allowing people to express their love of life, with friends and family. Our customers get excited over our products and that’s the best part for me.
