CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Ahold USA last week named Marshall Collins president and chief executive officer of Red Food Stores here, effective immediately.

As part of the organizational changes related to the Red Food deal, Ahold has made Red Food a division of Bi-Lo, which is Ahold USA's largest operating company. Ahold said it will invest $45 million in capital improvements for Red Food, which will cover the cost of an unspecified number of new stores and several remodeling projects over the next three years.
As president and CEO of Red Food, Collins succeeds James Bolonda, who has resigned. Ahold said Bolonda will begin working as a consultant to Ahold USA and the new Bi-Lo division.
Additionally, Tom Farello has been named executive vice president and chief operating officer of Red Food. Farello, who was senior vice president of store operations, reports to Collins.
Collins reports to Robert Zwartendijk, president and CEO of Ahold USA. Ahold operates five regional chains in the United States.
