BOISE, Idaho -- Albertson's here said it will start the four-month process of laying off workers at its Brea, Calif., warehouse at the end of August.

In southern California, Albertson's said it will sell 43 units to Stater Bros. Market, Colton, Calif., and 31 to Certified Grocers of California, Los Angeles.

The company also said the number of workers to be dismissed has yet to be determined. "It's subject to negotiations with the union and to the determination of what the sales volume at the warehouse will be," said Reed. He added the company has no intention of closing the Brea facility, which currently has more than 750 employees.
