Boxed has named Prentis Wilson as its president, the first in the e-commerce company’s six-year history. Wilson most recently was VP and general manager of Amazon Business, a global division he created that reached $10 billion in sales in less than four years.
At Boxed, Wilson will be charged with accelerating overall company growth.
“In a rapidly evolving industry, we’ve been able to grow from a technology startup selling online bulk groceries to a full-service retail partner also offering software and actionable data insights,” said Chieh Huang, co-founder and CEO of New York-based Boxed. “Prentis will help us in scaling this operation, bringing years of insight from a strong player in the e-commerce landscape.”

After a year of extensive growth that included an additional $111 million in Series D funding in August, Wilson’s hire follows a series of other executive moves at Boxed. The company also recently named Rhonda Ramparas as chief financial officer, Seiya Vogt as VP of growth and Andrea Chesleigh as VP of product. Its private label brand, Prince & Spring, saw record sales in the first quarter of 2019.
Boxed was founded in 2013, giving consumers direct-to-their-door access to warehouse club products with no membership fees.
