"We believe that home delivery will become a significant part of our business in the coming years and we intend to stay at the forefront of this emerging trend," said Preston Slayden, president and chief executive officer. He told SN that sales from home shopping programs hold the potential to double annually during the next five years.
Each of Cub's 13 stores will serve as fulfillment centers for orders, which are processed and delivered by Shopping Alternatives, Bethesda, Md.
To promote the service, the retailer is offering customers free delivery on their first order. Subsequent telephone orders will be assessed a $9.95 fee and fax orders, $8.95.
