Richfood Appoints Director of Sales
has named Jeff Bartolacci director of chain sales, a new position.
Bartolacci was general manager of the wholesaler's northern division, which is based in Glen Burnie, Md. He reports to Joe Della Noci, vice president of retail sales.
Thomas F. Strzelczyk, formerly president of the Leedmark hypermarket that closed, succeeds Bartolacci as general manager of Richfood's northern division. The northern division includes customers in Maryland, Delaware and Pennsylvania.
Strzelczyk reports to Don Bennett, president and chief executive officer of Richfood.
Additionally, Richfood has added a third zone manager to its Glen Burnie office. Richard Hutchinson fills that position.
Hutchinson, who formerly worked in the Maryland division of Supervalu, reports to Strzelczyk.
Supervalu Names Design Head
MINNEAPOLIS -- Tom Ryan has been named president of the design services group at Supervalu here.
He succeeds Lloyd Stenbeck, who has retired. Ryan is responsible for Planmark, the company's architectural, engineering and project management services subsidiary; and Studio 70, which offers a full range of interior design and store planning services. He is also responsible for the company's store engineering and equipment purchasing.
Ryan was president and chief executive officer of Ryan Development here. He reports to Phil Dabill, corporate executive vice president and regional president of wholesale foods.
Certified Re-elects Chairman
LOS ANGELES -- Bill MacAloney has been re-elected chairman of the board of Certified Grocers of California here.
MacAloney, president of MacBer Inc., Anaheim, Calif., has already completed a one-year term as chairman. MacBer operates four Jax Markets.
Michael Webb, president and chief executive officer of SavMax Foods, Modesto, Calif., was elected first vice chairman. He succeeds Allan Scharn, president of Gelson's Markets, Encino, Calif.
James Stump, president of Stumps Markets, San Diego, was elected second vice chairman, succeeding Michael Provenzano, president of Pro and Son's, Ontario, Calif.
Certified members re-elected 13 directors and elected three new ones: William C. (Chuck) Evans, president of Twain Harte Market, Twain Harte, Calif.; Gene Fulton, president of Jensen's Complete Shopping, Blue Jay, Calif., and Kenneth Young, vice president of Young's Markets, Visalia, Calif.
