Two VP Positions Added by Supervalu

inneapolis, has named Steven R. Nudson executive vice president and Robert S. Sieger vice president of finance at its Sweet Life Foods subsidiary here. Both are new positions.

The two appointments were made in conjunction with the completion of Supervalu's acquisition of Sweet Life.

Nudson most recently was vice president of marketing at Supervalu's Tacoma, Wash., division, a position he held since 1993. No successor has been announced in Tacoma. He also held merchandising and development positions in a number of Supervalu divisions since joining the company in 1985.

Sieger had been controller of Supervalu's Atlanta division since 1993. The administrative operations of the Atlanta division had been recently combined with administrative operations of the Anniston, Ala., division to create a new Southeast division. Sieger also had been executive vice president at Wetterau Finance Co, St. Louis, at the time Supervalu acquired Wetterau.

Nudson and Sieger report to Joseph Fusco, president of Sweet Life. Fusco was president of Sweet Life's two distribution centers prior to the merger with Supervalu.

Coca-Cola Foods Names Marketer

HOUSTON -- Coca-Cola Foods here has named Donald R. Knauss senior vice president of marketing. He succeeds John Weslar, who was named vice president of business development, a new post.

In his new position Knauss will be in charge of consumer marketing, and will play a key role in developing different directions for Coca-Cola Foods products.

"Our attitude will be more aggressive and innovative. And there will be a greater willingness to take prudent risks, particularly on new products," Knauss said.

Knauss was most recently vice president and general manager of Frito-Lay Direct, Plano, Texas, where his division led the country in volume and profit growth. During his career he has also held marketing and sales positions with Procter & Gamble and Tropicana.

He reports to Tim Haas, president and chief executive officer of Coca-Cola Foods.

Coca-Cola Foods manufactures and markets a wide line of juice and juice-related products, including the Minute Maid brand.

Fantastic Foods Appoints Sales VP

PETALUMA, Calif. -- Fantastic Foods here has named William J. Riley vice president of sales, a new position.

Riley comes to Fantastic Foods after serving in a variety of sales positions at Clorox Co., Oakland, Calif., most recently as manager of sales merchandising for household cleaning products.

Riley will be responsible for the overall development and execution of sales activity within Fantastic Foods. He will report to Jim Rosen, Fantastic Foods president and chief executive officer.

Fantastic Foods manufactures more than 60 natural grocery products, including instant soup cups in Jumpin' Black Beans, Caribbean Rice & Beans, Cha Cha Chili and Corn & Potato Chowder flavors; grains and mixes that include Fantastic Polenta, Instant Refried Beans and Brown Basmati Rice; and Nature's Burger, its flagship burger alternative.

Carthage Taps Division Sales VP

LONGVIEW, Texas -- Carthage Cup Co. here has named Bill Tostlebe vice president of sales for the consumer products division, a new position based in Arlington Heights, Ill.

He was director of sales and marketing. That position will not be filled. Tostlebe reports to Mark Abernathy, president and chief executive officer.

Carthage Cup manufacturers nationally distributed plastic thermoformed cold drink cups under the Holiday brand and private labels.
