Kroger Taps Heschel As Executive VP
named Michael S. Heschel executive vice president, a new position.
Heschel previously served as senior vice president of information systems. In his new position, he will be responsible for directing Kroger's management information systems department, as well as logistics and reengineering.
He will report directly to David B. Dillon, president and chief operating officer and Joseph A. Pichler, chairman and chief executive officer.
Heschel also was recently named Information Systems Executive of the Year by Loyola University, Baltimore.
He received the award last week from the David D. Lattanze Center for Executive Studies in Information Systems, a Loyola academic center which includes 45 member firms from various industries.
Loyola cited Heschel's accomplishments, including the implementation of satellite-based chainwide communications and the rollout of new in-store processors to handle such operations as labor scheduling, coupon scanning and produce weighing.
Vons' Cox Named Senior VP, Distribution
ARCADIA, Calif. -- Warren D. Cox has been promoted to senior vice president of distribution, a newly created position at the Vons Cos. here.
Cox was previously group vice president of distribution. In his new role he will continue to report to Richard Goodspeed, president and chief operating officer.
"This promotion recognizes the importance of the company's current efforts to continue to improve our efficiency on the supply side, including the consolidation of our distribution facilities," said Goodspeed.
