has created several new bakery-deli positions as part of an effort to realign its operating structure into seven marketing regions and further integrate category management into fresh foods.

In the Northern region, Bill Robinson reports to Larry Langsweirdt, vice president of category management. Robinson was most recently meat manager for the company's Ryans division, based in Great Falls, Mont., a position he had held since joining Supervalu in 1987. Fred Ruehl reports to Gary Gionnette, vice president of category management in the Central region. Ruehl, who joined Supervalu in 1978, was most recently bakery-deli manager for the Ohio Valley division.
The Southeastern region's category manager for deli-bakery is Rick Bryant, reporting to Jim Fenzel, vice president of category management. Bryant was most recently director of merchandising at the Southeastern regional procurement office and has been with the company since 1976. In the Northwestern region, Garry Wanner reports to John Aune, vice president of category management for the region. Wanner was most recently bakery-deli manager for the Tacoma, Wash., division and has been with the company since 1979. The Midwestern region's director of category management for bakery-deli is Mike Kibler, reporting to Mark Anderson, the region's vice president of category management. Kibler was most recently manager of bakery-deli products for Supervalu's JM Jones division. He joined the company in 1982. Supervalu is a leading food distributor, supplying about 4,600 stores in 48 states.
La Tortilla Names Sales Manager
SANTA ROSA, Calif. -- La Tortilla Factory here has named Ron Rodriguez retail sales manager, a new position.
He joined the company seven years ago as a route salesman, and most recently was Sonoma County district sales manager.
In his new post, Rodriguez reports to Willie Tamayo, vice president. La Tortilla Factory is a manufacturer of corn and flour tortillas, and a distributor of related items such as chips and salsa. The company's retail accounts include Safeway, Oakland, Calif.; Raley's Supermarkets, West Sacramento, Calif.; Lucky Stores, Dublin, Calif., and the northern California division of Albertson's, Boise, Idaho.
