Senior VP Leaves Boston Chicken

cken's senior vice president of communications, Karen Rugen, has left the company to accept a top position at Rite Aid Corp., Camp Hill, Pa.

Meanwhile, Boston Chicken, which operates units under the Boston Market banner and is in Chapter 11, has handed over Rugen's former responsibilities to an outside firm, Genesis Inc., Denver.

In her new post as senior vice president of corporate communications, Rugen reports to Martin Grass, chairman and chief executive officer of Rite Aid. The company, a drug-store chain, operates 3,800 units in 30 states.

Supervalu Adds VP Position

MINNEAPOLIS -- Supervalu here has named Monty Patterson vice president of fresh merchandising, a new position created within the company's retail merchandising department.

Patterson is responsible for execution of store-level merchandising of all perishables. He reports to Mike Frank, senior vice president for merchandising at retail food companies.

Prior to this, Patterson was vice president of perishables at Rainbow Foods.
