Ingles Markets, Asheville, N.C., said Vaughn C. (Vic) Fisher, Ingles president, has been named the North Carolina Food Dealers' grocer of the year. Robert Ingle, Ingles president and chief executive officer, commented, "Vic has over 40 years in the grocery business. Vic knows the business -- and now the industry knows Vic."

The company also said it named Ross England divisional vice president of operations for The Pharm. Previously, he was a buyer for the general merchandise drug division of Raley's, West Sacramento, Calif.

Supervalu, Minneapolis, said last week it has promoted David Pearson to president of the company's Central region, effective immediately. Pearson, who was previously the Central region's executive vice president, reports to Jeff Noddle, Supervalu president and chief operating officer. Pearson succeeds Nick Connavino, who passed away suddenly July 5.
