JACOBS NAMED TO SUCCEED DE VAUCLEROY AT DELHAIZEd last week that Georges Jacobs would succeed Gui de Vaucleroy as chairman of the company at the end of this year. De Vaucleroy, who has been chairman of Delhaize Group since 1999, has reached the retirement age of 70, the company said. He had been with Delhaize for 44 years, including his time as president and chief executive officer from 1990 to 1998.

He had been with Delhaize for 44 years, including his time as president and chief executive officer from 1990 to 1998. Jacobs, 63, has been a board member of Delhaize Group since May of last year. He also serves as chairman of the executive committee.
KINGS ELEVATES PORTNOY TO PRESIDENT AND CEO
PARSIPPANY, N.J. -- Kings Super Markets here said last week it has promoted Dan Portnoy, formerly executive vice president, to president and chief executive officer. Reporting directly to Maurice Helgott, food director at Kings' London-based parent company, Marks & Spencer, Portnoy succeeds Jim Meister as president. Meister, a former Kings' president and CEO, came out of retirement in October to become president following the departure of Alan Levitan the previous month. Meister will remain with Kings as part-time non-executive chairman. The company also said it has promoted Fred Brohm, previously director of store operations, to executive vice president of merchandising and marketing, and Rich Durante, previously an area director, to senior director of store operations.
WINN-DIXIE TAPS BURGER KING, PEPSI VETERAN AS CFO
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Winn-Dixie Stores here said last week it has named Bennett Nussbaum senior vice president and chief financial officer. Nussbaum, formerly executive vice president and CFO of Burger King Corp., Miami, succeeds Richard McCook, who has resigned after 20 years with Winn-Dixie. While at Burger King, Nussbaum helped lead the leveraged buyout of the company by TPG, Goldman Sachs Private Equity and Bain Capital. Prior to joining Burger King in 2001, Nussbaum was senior vice president and CFO of Kinko's, Dallas, and before that he had a 25-year career at PepsiCo, Purchase, N.Y., where he served in a broad range of senior financial and operations roles, including a stint as CFO of PepsiCo International.
BOZZUTO'S PROMOTES HEGGELKE TO NEW POSITION
CHESHIRE, Conn. -- Bozzuto's here, a wholesale distributor, said it promoted Steve Heggelke from vice president of merchandising and procurement to the newly created position of senior vice president of merchandising and advertising. He will be responsible for overseeing the merchandising and procurement functions for the entire company.
AWG NAMES QUADE SENIOR VP, DIVISION MANAGER
KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Associated Wholesale Grocers here said Bill Quade has been named senior vice president and division manager for the wholesaler's distribution center here. Quade succeeds Mike Rand, who was previously named executive vice president, wholesale operations. Quade was formerly vice president, merchandising. He will have responsibility for overseeing the Kansas City division, which supplies over 350 stores in Missouri, Kansas, Iowa and Nebraska.
