Food Marketing Institute (FMI) has appointed Gigi Vita as VP of sales for the Safe Quality Food Institute (SQFI). 

In her new role, Vita will be responsible for managing the sales division of SQFI. Her background includes leading strategic business development and innovation for the Dairy Farmers of America (DFA), serving as president and COO of Fonterra North America and spending more than eight years with PepsiCo in several leadership roles.

Robert Garfield, chief food safety assessment officer and SVP of SQFI, called Vita an "accomplished, versatile sales and business expert," adding that her "passion for operational and customer opportunities will bring new levels of awareness to the SQFI brand and strengthen our voice so it resounds around the globe." 

Vita also has held senior leadership roles at other major consumer packaged goods companies, including Coca-Cola, Kraft/Nabisco, Campbell Soup, Nestle and Procter & Gamble. Vita has a bachelor's degree in English from Lafayette College in Easton, Pa.
