FMI-The Food Industry Association has promoted Dana Graber to the position of associate general counsel and senior director of legal and regulatory affairs.

Graber previously served as senior counsel for FMI's government relations team. She joined the food industry trade group in 2016 and has overseen regulatory strategy and compliance assistance.

FMI noted that Graber has primarily worked on "strategies that will result in minimally burdensome and easily implementable rules for both U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) regulated foods.”

“Anyone who has had the opportunity to work alongside Dana knows that she is an indispensable member of the FMI team,” FMI Chief Regulatory Officer and General Counsel Stephanie Harris said in a statement. “She is a talented attorney who does a tremendous job helping our members navigate complex and demanding legal and regulatory responsibilities. We’re incredibly pleased to recognize Dana’s dedication to our membership through this promotion today."

FMI said the announcement of the promotion was a result of Graber’s “dedication to supporting the FMI membership in their knowledge of and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.”

Before coming to the association, Graber served as an associate attorney with Keller and Heckman LLP, where she advised on food additive and packaging regulations. In addition to her work in packaging, Graber assisted clients with submissions to the Food and Drug Administration on food-contact substances and processes used in post-consumer recycled plastics. She earned a B.S. in Packaging Science from Clemson University and a J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law. Graber spent four years in the consumer packaging industry, prior to attending law school.
