FMI's Midwinter Conference Gets a New Date

It's back on: FMI–The Food Industry Association, which postponed its annual Midwinter Executive Conference earlier this month, announced the rescheduled event will take place March 28-31 in Orlando.

The Hyatt Regency Orlando will host the conference, which was originally slated for this month. FMI announced the postponement on Jan. 10, with President and CEO Leslie Sarasin citing "business and personal challenges our industry continues to face" in light of the omicron-spurred surge in new COVID-19 cases as well as continued supply-chain pressures as the reasons for hitting pause on the event.

"We remain committed to listening, supporting and championing our members needs as they continue to keep America fed and safe," Sarasin said in a statement at the time.

Attendees will be required to submit either proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or a negative PCR test that was administered within 72 hours before their arrival at the conference.

In a news release Jan. 20, FMI said it will make additional programming announcements in the coming weeks. Dana Peterson, chief economist for The Conference Board, will give a keynote address at the event. 

"Our members have urged us to hit 'play' for our first in-person gathering in more than two years," Sarasin said Jan. 20. "We look forward to hosting this forum for high-impact industry dialog at the conclusion of the first quarter 2022."

Registration for the March event opens Jan. 21 at 6 a.m. ET on the Midwinter Executive Conference website.
