Ahold, Zaandam, Netherlands, completed its 51% acquisition of Peapod, Chicago, after Peapod shareholders approved the $72.6 million offer at Peapod's annual meeting. Effective with the closing, four new members joined Peapod's board of directors: Han Willemse, managing director of Ahold's European Conference Center; Maarten Doorhout Mees, senior vice president of business development for Ahold; Marc Smith, chief operating officer of Stop & Shop, Ahold's Quincy, Mass.-based subsidiary; and Gary Preston, executive vice president of human resources at Ahold USA, Chantilly, Va. Stepping down as directors are Seth L. Pierrepont, Tasso H. Coin, Robert S. Goodale and Michael Meurs.

Nash Finch Co., Minneapolis, said last week it has formed a partnership with the Priceline WebHouse Club, Stamford, Conn., that will allow shoppers to buy goods over the Internet and then pick them up at Nash Finch owned and operated supermarkets. The company said the program will be available at Econofoods units in Rochester, Minn., by the end of this month, with additional supermarkets to be added throughout the year.
