As May rolled into June, Kroger’s Columbus division announced “the largest one-year price investment in the company’s history.”

A multimillion dollar campaign, the initiative is “designed to provide customers with more for their grocery dollar, including savings on high-quality, affordable Kroger-brand products,” according to a company press release.

The Ohio-based store offers private label products under more than 25 different brands, including Kroger, Simple Truth and Private Selection. Nearly 2,000 of these items saw price reductions.

Kroger Brand Peanut Butter highlighted the private label adjustments with a 50-cent drop from $1.99 to $1.49 per 16-ounce jar. Home Sense double-roll bath tissue saw 24 packs decline $3 from $12.99 to $9.99. Private Selection 24-ounce breads dipped 81 cents to $1.88.

“Kroger products provide our customers with affordable options they can’t get anywhere else,” said Kroger Columbus Division VP of merchandising Mike Murphy in a statement. “Our customers know that they aren’t sacrificing quality when they purchase a Kroger product. Not only are they valuable options for customers, but many items, including soft drinks, salad dressings, bread and milk are produced and manufactured right here in Ohio.”

The company also said it reduced prices on select produce items, such as avocados, onions and green beans, because this section of the perimeter is a “key determinant in where customers choose to shop.”

Kroger’s Columbus Division consists of 121 supermarkets, 120 pharmacies and 90 fuel centers throughout central and northwest Ohio.
