CNCINNATI — Kroger here yesterday said it would offer shoppers a chance to extend their tax rebate and/or economic stimulus checks by exchanging them for Kroger gift cards with as much as $120 in additional face value. Gift card amounts correspond to the payment amounts outlined by the Internal Revue Service for the federal economic stimulus program. Beginning May 2, customers loading $300 onto a Kroger gift card will see the card valued at $330, with $600 earning two $330 gift cards and $1,200 earning four $330 cards for a total of $1,320. “Kroger’s program allows our customers to stretch their grocery dollars further,” David Dillon, chief executive officer of Kroger, said in a statement. “We are excited about the opportunity to touch the lives of millions of families across the country by helping them extend their household budgets through this special program.” The program will run through July 31.
