The "Make it a Movie Night" will run for the next year in all Kroger stores and banners, except the Columbus division, Food 4 Less (Southern California) and QFC stores.

Once they purchase the required number of products, consumers receive a Catalina receipt at check-out. The receipt contains a code that can be entered at the kiosk for a free rental.

"'Make it a Movie Night' makes it more convenient and affordable for customers to enjoy movies at home with family and friends," Evan Anthony, Kroger's vice president of corporate advertising and marketing, said in a statement.

PepsiCo is driving the promotion, while ConAgra and Hersey are partners. The promotion is advertised through co-branded in-store displays and point-of-sale signage throughout the soft drink, salty snack, candy and microwave popcorn aisles.
