The National Grocers Association has brought on Robert Yeakel as director of government relations.
In his new role, Yeakel will manage payments and data security policy issues. He most recently worked as policy adviser for the U.S. House of Representatives Budget Committee, where he advised members of Congress on issues including financial services and cybersecurity.

Chris Jones, NGA VP of government relations and counsel, said Yeakel's experience on Capitol Hill will be a "tremendous benefit to the NGA team as we continue to score legislative victories for the independent supermarket industry."
“With the 116th Congress sworn in last week, Robert joins our team at a vital time for Main Street grocers throughout the country," Jones said.
Yeakel received his undergraduate degree in history from UCLA in 2009 and a master's in political management from the George Washington University in 2017.
