NGA Promotes Laura Strange to SVP

The National Grocers Association (NGA) has promoted Laura Strange, previously VP of industry relations, marketing and communications, to SVP of communications and external affairs. 

In her expanded role, Strange will continue to oversee NGA's industry relations and communications departments while taking on new responsibilities within the associations's retail and wholesale membership.

Strange joined the national trade association in 2013 as director of communications and during that time has "developed the communications and marketing functions ... into a well-functioning unit that succeeded in growing numerous events," including The NGA Show, said Peter Larkin, NGA's president and CEO.

In addition, Strange has "also significantly increasing the profile of the association and independent supermarket industry within in national and trade industry media," added Larkin, including her "key role in advancing the association's legislative and grassroots priorities, which has been guided by her previous experience as a communications director for a member of Congress." 

NGA EVP Greg Ferrara said Strange's "passion and commitment" for association members coupled with her industry knowledge "makes her the perfect person to take on responsibility for overseeing NGA’s continued membership growth." She is poised to help the trade group "continue its strong representation, ensuring the 21,000 independent supermarkets across the country have an advocate looking out for their best interest," Ferrara added. 

In addition to her experience working as director for a member of Congress, Strange has experience working in political affairs for a Fortune 500 company. She earned her bachelor's degree from the University of South Carolina and an MBA in strategic public relations from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
