LAKELAND, Fla. — Publix Super Markets here has launched a line of private-label domestic and imported cheeses.

Nine new varieties are currently available — including Publix Deli Swiss, Asigo, French Brie and Spanish Manchego — and six more will debut later this month and in February, according to a company release.

"Our customers have told us that they are interested in exploring new cheeses with unique taste and flavors," said Maria Brous, Publix's director of media and community relations. "With 15 varieties, we have a flavor profile for every customer, from the novice to the cheese connoisseurs. Our goal is to have trained associates share their passion for cheese with their customers."

Publix sent representatives overseas to different cheese-producing regions to watch products being made, meet with manufacturers and sample dozens of different cheeses, the company release said.
