MODESTO, Calif. — Save Mart Supermarkets here said it has named James Orr to the new position of senior vice president, supply chain, and chief supply chain officer.

His experience covers logistics and supply chain functions — encompassing transportation management, warehouse operations, forecasting, inventory management, customs compliance, distribution network design, private fleet optimization and small parcel negotiations — during a career that includes stints at PricewaterhouseCoopers, JC Penney Transportation, Cost Plus World Markets, Signature Fruit, Tri-Valley Growers and Ryder Systems.

Commenting on his appointment, Orr said,  "I am looking forward to aligning the supply chain to support the company's strategy and to lead a team in developing logistics operational excellence at Save Mart."
