The upcoming Sial Paris show will feature exhibitors from 80 countries and shine a spotlight on "alternative food."
The show, which will take place Oct. 21-25 in Paris, aims to "address the food challenges of the next 30 years."
SIAL Paris is proposing a new sector, Alternative Food, which will combine organic, "free-from," eco-friendly and sustainable products and semi-processed foods, with a space for roundtables and talks, as well as guided tours.
Additionally, SIAL will highlight beverages, a "made in France" section and an "equipment and services" zone to allow micro-enterprises and SMEs to present their technologies and equipment. The show will also feature a Future Lab that will accommodate European startups, global studies and experiential spaces.
The event will be sponsored by Chef Yannick Alleno, who will showcase his "cuisine moderne" and take part in the selection committee for prizes awarded by SIAL Innovations, this edition's sponsor. He will define a "foodservice" theme trail and select products presented by the exhibitors for inclusion in a basket bearing his name.
Nicolas Trentesaux, director of the SIAL network, called the food industry on of the "most dynamic" in the majority of the G20 countries.
"Coming to SIAL Paris is about discovering opportunities for growth, and new trends; it is about benefiting from an excellent springboard to attain the ambitious objectives aspired to by the actors in the food industry," Trentesaux said. "SIAL Paris is a unique, inspirational platform for testing new markets, launching new products and meeting the main professionals in the sector to discuss the challenges that lie ahead. It is also a veritable laboratory, with R&D departments from around the world finalizing their innovations to test them in the aisles of the exhibition."
Trentesaux said more than 2,500 innovations will be unveiled at the show, which will offer "yet more inspiration to the food processing industry."
