In this week’s recap of the Top 10 most popular Supermarket News articles, the top story was Baby Boomers, Gen Z have different grocery habits during time of inflation. The latest report draws from an April survey of more than 2,000 U.S. consumers, revealing that older consumers are still looking for ways to find deals when shopping for groceries in the face of inflation, whereas most younger shoppers continue to splurge on the extra items they want.

In other news, a federal workplace safety inspection at another Dollar General store, this time in North Texas, found exit routes and walkways blocked and merchandise unsafely stacked — conditions that, according to the inspection, exposed employees and others to fire hazards and potential injuries.

The store, in Lamesa, Texas, has 15 business days from receipt of its citations and penalties to comply, request an informal conference with the administration’s area director, or contest the findings before the independent Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.
