SpartanNash Celebrates Eight Newly Remodeled Family Fare Supermarket Locations
In addition to being rebranded as Family Fare Supermarkets, the eight stores also underwent $14.5 million in renovations and improvements.
On Wednesday, July 20, SpartanNash – the company that owns and operates 14 Family Fare locations in Omaha as well as three Supermercado Nuestra Familia stores – will celebrate the grand re-opening of its eight newest Family Fare Supermarkets. Simultaneous ribbon-cutting ceremonies will take place at each location beginning at 10 a.m., with the main celebration taking place at 14444 W. Center Road in Omaha.
In addition to being rebranded as Family Fare Supermarkets, the eight stores also underwent $14.5 million in renovations and improvements. Since Spartan Stores merged with the Nash Finch Company in November of 2013, the newly formed SpartanNash has invested more than $30 million into its retail grocery operations in the greater Omaha market. SpartanNash also operates a large distribution center in Omaha.
Store guests are invited to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony at their nearest Family Fare location, then shop the store and discover the new amenities and product offerings, which include the lowest everyday prices on fresh and organic produce, new lower prices on more than 4,000 store products and locally supplied meats from the heart of beef country.
“As we renovated these eight Family Fare Supermarkets, we focused on what our customers expect in a grocery shopping experience – selection, quality and freshness,” says Ted Adornato, SpartanNash executive vice president, retail operations. “We remain committed to delivering these to our store guests, along with everyday low prices and outstanding customer service from the nearly 1,000 associates who work at these new and improved locations.”
At the Center Road Family Fare, SpartanNash President and CEO Dennis Eidson will be joined by Adornato; EVP and COO Dave Staples; EVP and Chief Financial Officer Chris Meyers; EVP, Merchandising and Marketing Larry Pierce; Store Director Sara Ferris; and other community leaders and community partners for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The grand re-opening will also include a $12,000 donation to the Fisher House Foundation to help build a Fisher House for veterans and military families receiving treatment at the VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System.
From June 22 to July 4, each of the more than 30 SpartanNash-owned retail stores and fuel centers in Nebraska and Iowa invited customers to donate $1, $5 or $10 to support military heroes. In total, the scan campaign raised $24,000, which the SpartanNash Foundation evenly split between the Fisher House Foundation and its national partner, Honor and Remember.
The eight Family Fare Supermarkets celebrating their grand re-opening are located at: 14444 W. Center Road, Omaha, Neb. 68144; 5110 S. 108th St., Omaha, Neb. 68137; 2650 N. 90th St., Omaha, Neb. 68134; 3003 108th St., Omaha, Neb. 68164; 3026 S. 24th St., Omaha, Neb. 68106; 7402 N. 30th St., Omaha, Nebr. 68112; 1510 Harlan Drive, Bellevue, Nebr. 68005; 1801 Valley View Drive, Council Bluffs, Iowa 51503
At each ribbon-cutting ceremony, a pallet of food will be donated to the Food Bank for the Heartland. Students from Metropolitan Community College’s Institute for the Culinary Arts will also provide samples of their “Perfect Picnic Challenge” culinary creations to store guests, while supplies last (see related release for additional details on the culinary competition).
Grand re-opening events to celebrate the $14.5 million total investment will span eight days (July 20-27), and will include daily giveaways, food samples and surprise and delight offerings throughout the stores, with an emphasis on summer produce and local and living well products. Store guests who shop with their yes Rewards Card between July 20 and the end of August will automatically be entered into the Super Sweepstakes. One lucky winner will win the grand prize – a four-night getaway and two tickets to the 2017 Pro Football Championship in Houston, Texas. Two first-prize winners will receive free groceries for a year.
Eight stores – previously operating as Bag ‘N Save and No Frills Supermarkets –underwent the $14.5 million renovation and rebranding over the course of six months, bringing the total number of Family Fare locations to 14 in the greater Omaha area.
“Omaha and its surrounding communities are wonderful places to live, work and raise a family, and we are excited to reinvest in these stores and communities in this way,” says Tom Swanson, SpartanNash vice president, retail – west division. “None of this would have been possible without the hard work of our store associates or the understanding of our store guests, and we can’t wait to introduce them both to the new and improved shopping experience at our newest Family Fare locations.”
