EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Supervalu filed a lawsuit in Hennepin County District Court last week seeking more than $50,000 in damages from American Foods Group, the Green Bay, Wis.-based processor implicated in December's 23-state, one-million-pound ground beef recall. The complaint alleges that AFG breached its contract and product warranty when it shipped some of the product -- linked to an E. coli outbreak -- to the retailer's Cub Foods stores. Court papers also charge the company with refusing to take back the ground beef collected from Supervalu member stores, as well as refusing to negotiate settlements and resolving customer complaints.
