The announcement was made at the board's semi-annual meeting here this week. In addition, Steven Preston, president and CEO, OakLeaf Waste Management, was also named a director.

Simon succeeds Eduardo Castro-Wright, Wal-Mart vice chairman and president and CEO of global e-commerce and global sourcing.

"We are honored to welcome Bill Simon and Steve Preston to the RILA board and look forward to their future involvement," said RILA President Sandy Kennedy, in a prepared statement.

RILA, representing the interests of large retailers, focuses on labor, supply chain, finance, asset protection and other issues.
