JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Winn-Dixie Stores here will introduce the newest design and feature in its line of reusable bags, just in time for Earth Day.
The bag, made from 95% recycled material, features Microban antibacterial protection that actively protects the bag from stain- and odor-causing bacteria, and continuously stops the growth of new bacteria. Winn-Dixie is the first retailer in the Southeast to offer this built-in technology that will not wash off or wear away for the lifetime of the bag.
The eco-friendly tote, showcasing Earth Day designs created by the children of Winn-Dixie associates, holds the same amount of groceries as three plastic grocery bags and is available at all locations with a special promotion of five bags for $5. A new baby-themed reusable bag, also featuring Microban, is now available for purchase as well.
“We are committed to increasing and enhancing our sustainability efforts in every area of our operation,” said Robin Miller, Winn-Dixie’s director of communications. “Our customers and our Associates are passionate about the environment and very supportive of our programs and initiatives. It’s all part of being a good neighbor on both a local and global level.”
