JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Winn-Dixie Stores here said Thursday it is going after trick-or-treaters, Halloween partygoers and college football tailgaters this weekend with a series of special offers.

For trick-or-treaters, Winn-Dixie is giving away free Halloween candy bags with purchases of 10-ounce or 11-ounce bags of Snicker's, Reese's or Kit Kat snack-sized candy for $4.99.

In addition, the company is selling lighted jack-o-lantern buckets visible from up to 300 feet away, as well as glow-in-the-dark necklaces, plus flashlights and batteries.

The chain said it will hold special pumpkin-decorating workshops for children on Saturday and Sunday afternoons at select stores. In addition, any child wearing a costume to one of its stores on Saturday, Sunday or Monday will receive a fresh-baked cookie.

For holiday parties, the chain is featuring a dozen Halloween cupcakes for $9.99 and giving away a free 18-inch mylar balloon with each purchase. For tailgaters to college games in Miami, Tallahassee, Auburn and here, it is offering eight pieces of fried chicken, along with pita chips and hummus, for $11.99 with a customer reward card.
