Winn-Dixie Stores is featuring supplies for customers to stock their hurricane preparedness kits.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Winn-Dixie Stores here said Wednesday it is featuring supplies for customers to stock their hurricane preparedness kits.

According to the company, a typical kit should include drinking water; Gatorade or vitamin water; canned spaghetti; pudding and gel cups; peanut butter and jelly; canned tuna or chicken; canned Vienna sausages; beef jerky; foam plates; plastic cups; trash bags; paper towels; liquid bleach; flashlights; batteries; weather radios; a battery-powered fan; gas can; liquid fuel; matches; and briquettes.

The company is having a "hurricane preparedness stock up and save sale," including buy-one-get-one offers, 10 for $10 items, and 'Save 'til' offers.

The six-month hurricane season that began June 1 is exected to be "active to extremely active" for tropical storms, with 12 to 18 named storms, six to 10 of which could become hurricanes, the company noted.
