CARLISLE, Pa. — Ahold’s Giant-Carlisle chain here said Monday that it had completed its acquisition of 25 Ukrop’s stores in the Richmond, Va., market, and that those stores would take on the Martin’s banner later this spring.

Giant added that those stores, like its other 10 stores under the Martin’s banner in Virginia, would sell carry-out beer and wine and be open on Sundays. The Ukrop family, which announced it was selling to Ahold in December, had eschewed both those options.

Giant said that the Ukrop’s family-run commissary would continue to provide kitchen and bakery products to the Martin’s stores.

Separately, Ukrop’s completed the sale of its Joe’s Market specialty food store to two former company employees. That store was to reopen under the Libbie Market name, published reports said.
