Plant proteins, turmeric and meal kits are among the trends that will influence and impact Canadian kitchens in the new year, according to Loblaw Cos.
The Brampton, Ontario-based retailer analyzed internal and industry data and assembled a group of experts including professional and home chefs, academics, futurists and registered dietitians to form the Loblaw Food Council, which met last month to compile the list of trends.
“With the introduction of the Loblaw 2017 Canadian Food Trends we hope to start a national conversation about what Canadians are eating and how we can continue to inspire our consumers’ creativity and adventurous spirit when feeding our families,” said Garry Senecal, president of Loblaw’s Market Division, in a statement.
