TORONTO — For the fourth year in a row, Loblaw Cos. was named as one of Canada’s Top 100 employers by Mediacorp Canada.
The 2013 list, published Wednesday, recognized Loblaw’s “efforts to engage colleagues and inspire ongoing learning, igniting their passions for their work, their communities and the millions of people they interact with every day,” the retailer said in a statement. Loblaw was the only grocer on the list.
Specifically Mediacorp recognized Loblaw for providing a “unique head office” with a herb garden, test kitchen, quiet room for meditation and prayer, a fitness center and a market-style cafeteria. Benefits to employees include a share purchase plan and year-end bonuses; maternity and paternity leave offering 75% salary for 17 weeks; an academic scholarship plan for children of employees; and a training program for college graduates.
