Over 660,000 pounds of meat and poultry products found to have been stored in insanitary conditions have been recalled by Beebe, Ark.-based MIH Marketing and Sales, according to USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.
FSIS Office of Investigation Enforcement and Audits discovered the issue during a routine inspection. An investigator found rodent activity in areas of the facility where products were stored. Testing of the product detained from the site found evidence of possible fecal matter.
Recalled products include raw chicken breast filet, chicken thigh, chicken drum, chicken wing and chicken tender items sold at select Edwards Food Giant, Edwards Cash Saver and Knights Super Foods locations in Arkansas, as well as various retail meat and poultry products sold at select Chicken City stores, also in Arkansas.
No reports of injury or illness have been reported in connection with consumption of these products.
