TYLER, Texas — FRESH by Brookshire's has announced its first annual FRESH Steak Cook Off to benefit the East Texas Food Bank.
On October 29, the new contest will pit eight teams from local businesses against each other to earn the title of "Ultimate Meat Master."
"Brookshire Grocery Company has a rich history of giving back to the community, and we at FRESH are proud to pass our blessings along to a great organization like the East Texas Food Bank," Steve Dellello, general manager for FRESH by Brookshire's, said in a release. "And there's no reason we can't all have fun giving back, with some friendly competition, great food and music, and a host of other fun events to make this a wonderful day for the whole family."
Judges will include Mayor of Tyler Barbara Bass, restaurateur Mundo Villapuda, and Randy Whittemore of Certified Angus Beef, the major steak sponsor for the contest.
In addition to the contest, attendees will find games for kids, a "strut your mutt" pet contest, and live music from three bands, underwritten by a local legal firm.
The East Texas Food Bank is a non-profit providing food to over 200 partner agencies in an effort to feed children, the working poor and seniors throughout 26 counties in East Texas.
