WEGMANS VETS LAUNCH CONSULTING FIRM

veterans of Wegmans Food Markets, Meg Brewin and Jim Frackenpohl, have launched their own retail-consulting firm. Brewin, president, and Frackenpohl, vice president, have dubbed the company Making A Statement Inc. Brewin was with Wegmans for more than 17 years, and Frackenpohl for more than 19, both serving in various management capacities. They were involved in the development of the 65-unit chain's Market Cafe food-service concept. Since leaving Wegmans, both have worked as consultants to the retail-food industry. EATZI'S NAMES ROBERTS VP, BRAND MANAGEMENT

DALLAS -- EatZi's, the upscale hybrid restaurant retail-food concept, has named Terry Roberts vice president, brand management. The company, purchased from Brinker International last year by private investment firm Catenea Partners, Boston, is re-gearing for rapid expansion. Roberts will help spearhead that effort. She was most recently senior director of organizational development, Thornton Oil Corp., Louisville, Ky., which operates 160-plus convenience stores. Prior to that, Roberts was owner/president of a Rochester, N.Y., consulting firm, Merchandising By Design, and is a 12-year veteran of Wegmans Food Markets, also in Rochester. In her new post, she reports to Rick Claes, co-chief executive officer. EatZi's founder Phil Romano is the co-CEO.

C&S WHOLESALE CREATES PERISHABLES POST

BRATTLEBORO, Vt. -- C&S Wholesale Grocers announced the appointment of Greg Young to the newly created position of vice president, perishables, responsible for overall procurement and sales activities in the categories of deli, meat, seafood, bakery and dairy. Most recently, Young was group vice president/general manager, New England division, for A&P's Super Foodmart, based in Springfield, Mass. Earlier in his career, Young spent 10 years with Penn Traffic Co. In his new position, Young reports to George Semanie, senior vice president, perishables. C&S Wholesale provides distribution and logistics services to supermarket chains and independent grocers in 10 states.
