EDINA, Minn. -- With the completion of its acquisition of Byerly's, here, Lund Food Holdings here said it will switch all its buying to Supervalu, Minneapolis.

The company said the transition to Supervalu should be completed by midsummer.

"Lunds' transition to Supervalu creates opportunities for both Lunds and Byerly's through our newly combined economies of scale," Tres Lund, chairman, president and chief executive officer, said. "Our partnering strength translates to continued product quality and variety for our customers."

Lunds acquired Byerly's from Goldner Hawn Johnson & Morrison, a Minneapolis-based investment firm, for an undisclosed amount. As previously disclosed, Lunds and Byerly's will operate as separate entities under a holding company structure.

Lunds also said it has integrated its senior management staff with that of Byerly's. The new management lineup at Lunds Food Holdings includes the following:

Dale Riley, formerly president and chief operating officer of Byerly's, has been named to the new post of executive vice president and chief operating officer. He oversees all operations of both retail chains and reports to Tres Lund.

Doug Clock, formerly executive vice president and chief financial officer of Byerly's, has been named to the new post of senior vice president and chief financial officer. Clock oversees financial administration, treasury functions, banking and investor relationships and risk management for both operations and reports to Lund.

Keith Kersten, formerly vice president of perishable operations for Byerly's, has been named to the new post of senior vice president of operations. He reports to Riley.
