Texas grocer H-E-B is plotting two new stores, one in northwest Houston and another on the northern edge of Fort Worth.

Developer The Howard Hughes Corporation on Thursday announced plans for a mixed-use development in Houston called Village Green at Bridgeland Central.

The development will be anchored by a more-than 100,000-square-foot H-E-B, which is slated to open in 2024.

H-E-B on Thursday said it will break ground on Nov. 16 on its H-E-B Alliance store at the northwest corner of Heritage Trace Parkway and N. Riverside Drive on the northern edge of Fort Worth.

The store “builds on the longstanding presence in the area and reinforces its commitment to serve more customers in this dynamic and growing part of Texas,” H-E-B said in a statement.

H-E-B said the new H-E-B Alliance will join two Central Market locations that have been in the area for more than two decades. H-E-B said it would share more details about the store at the groundbreaking and didn’t provide a planned opening date.

In Houston, the H-E-B anchored Bridgeland Central development will span 925 acres of office, retail, dining, entertainment and housing with plans for up to 70,000 residents, the developer said.

The store will be the first H-E-B in the Bridgeland area and will include curbside pickup and delivery, pharmacy and a fuel station.

“Our Houston region remains a priority for H-E-B and we continue to make significant investments expanding our footprint to serve all of our neighbors,” Armando Perez, H-E-B’s Houston EVP, said in a statement. “We are excited to bring a store to the Bridgeland Community to meet the needs of this growing area.”

Earlier this month, H-E-B announced plans to open a new store in Plano, Texas, Wednesday.

The 118,000-square-foot location includes a pharmacy with a drive-thru, a gas station and a car wash, as well as a True Texas BBQ restaurant with a drive-thru.

Last month, H-E-B opened a 111,000-square-foot store in Frisco, Texas. Early next year, H-E-B plans to break ground for a new store in Mansfield, Texas, about 40 minutes south of Dallas.

H-E-B currently operates more than 420 stores in Texas and Mexico.
