Aldi’s rapid pace for new store openings continues on Thursday as it adds new locations in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Mississippi.
The discount grocer’s new Midwest location is in northwestern Ohio. Located at 14651 Lorain Avenue, the store is the fifth Aldi in Cleveland, according to the grocer’s website.
“We have served this community for more than 26 years and are excited to continue to offer Cleveland residents an affordable way of shopping,” Corey Stucker, Hinckley regional vice president for Aldi, said in a statement.
Aldi is also bringing its first store to Flowood, Mississippi, as part of its Gulf Coast expansion. The store, which is located at 101 Primos Road, is the grocery retailer’s 10th location in Mississippi.
“Our stores are designed to make grocery shopping smarter, faster and easier, and we’ve been voted the price leader for six years running,” stated Heather Moore, Loxley regional VP for Aldi. “We’re excited to open our first Aldi store in Flowood and introduce local customers to a new, more affordable way of shopping.”
Earlier this year, Aldi opened its newest regional distribution center in Alabama to fuel Southeastern growth. The retailer’s 26th regional headquarters supports 100 stores and provides groceries to 8 million of its Gulf Coast shoppers.
On Thursday, Aldi also is slated to open its first store in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania. Located at 1065 Woodland Drive, the new store is roughly 60 miles northwest of Philadelphia.
With April continuing a downtrend in food prices, Aldi is already turning back the clock on inflation. The no-frills grocery chain is cutting prices on over 250 items this summer, the Batavia, Illinois-based retailer announced last month. The new savings include items such as chicken tenders, granola, seafood and coffee, which are part of Aldi's Price Promise everyday-low-price assortment.
Aldi noted that the price cuts will provide more than $60 million in savings to shoppers.
“We don’t want high grocery prices to get in the way of Americans doing what they love this summer, so we’re taking charge to champion value in a way that only Aldi can. We’re reducing our already low prices on some of the season’s most popular items to make sure summer plans aren’t disrupted,” according to Dave Rinaldo, co-president at Aldi U.S.
