Aldi U.S. continues its coast-to-coast growth with three new store openings this week, showing apparently that if the discount grocer builds it, shoppers will come.

The new locations slated to open on Thursday include two East Coast stores and one on the West Coast, bringing Aldi closer to its plan to add 120 new stores this year as well as grow its store count nationwide to more than 2,400.

The first store is in New York at 3366 Orchard Park Rd. in Orchard Park. Situated in an outer-ring suburb southeast of Buffalo, New York, the Orchard Park location is Aldi’s first store in the area.

“Our stores are designed to make grocery shopping smarter, faster and easier, and we’ve been voted the price leader for six years running,” said Aaron Sumida, Tully regional vice president for Aldi. “We’re excited to open our first Aldi store in Orchard Park and introduce local customers to a new, more affordable way of shopping.”

The second location will be in Coral Springs, Florida, at 651 North University Dr. Aldi has pursued an aggressive brick-and-mortar expansion in Florida, and last week the grocery retailer opened its first store in Miami proper at 3750 S. Dixie Highway.

Aldi's third new stores is in Coachella, California, at 50180 Cesar Chavez St. That will be the fourth Aldi in the Coachella Valley, joining stores now operating in La Qunita, Palm Springs and Palm Desert.

“We’re excited to open our first Aldi store in Coachella,” said Tom Cindel, Moreno Valley regional VP for Aldi.

Aldi, which last year ranked as one of the fastest-growing grocers in the United States, has also upped its game for delivery of its grocery staples and cult favorites, as last-mile logistics provider DoorDash partnered with the discount grocer to offer on-demand delivery to nearly all Aldi locations across 38 states.

With the official start to summer under way, Aldi  recently announced it is cutting prices on over 250 items, and Scott Patton, Aldi’s VP of national buying, said “deliberate decisions” are keeping meat prices low for shoppers this summer as well.

Aldi took the top spot as the most-trusted discount and small-format grocer, according to the 2023 Most Trusted Grocery Retailers in America list conducted by market research firm BrandSpark International in partnership with Winsight Grocery Business and Newsweek.
